Orange Essential Oil
I will honestly admit that citrus sinensis (orange) is not one of my top three essential oils. That would be Helichrysum, Lavender, Grapefruit, and Geranium. Oh wait! I listed four. Obviously it is difficult for me to limit myself when it comes to owning essential oils. I am happy to say that ORANGE SWEET is on oil I try to keep stocked with. When I spent two weeks cleaning our condo before we moved in- orange essential oil was used everywhere. I love FRESH and clean, so even though this place appeared clean I went over every inch with a splash of spic-n-span and a few teaspoons of orange oil in every bucket of hot water used to touch every wall, cupboard, tile, and floor. Ooooo, I sure love knowing there is NO dirt, grime, or bug breading places in any of the corners in my home! When we started moving our furniture and boxes in I felt relaxed (orange does that to a person), and confident that any future cleaning would be removing my dirt and germs and not the previous occupants.
For real- adding orange essential oil to your cleaning water freshens and disinfects the surfaces you clean. Orange oil has an amazing ability to grab onto and remove the greasy grimy kind of dirt left on walls which generally takes scrubbing and effort to remove. And this way the paint actually gets to stay on the wall. The scent is very pleasant and relaxing. I would rather smell the fresh scent of orange than the brain piercing scent of gaggy cleansers. It's better for the environment too!
Basic facts on Orange essential oil:
Citrus Sinensis
Uses: Diuretic, constipation, helps eliminate toxins, overindulgence, mouth ulcers, skin care, antiseptic, nervous anxiety, depression, disinfectant, general body tonic.
This oil contains vitamin, minerals, and enzymes. Can be used to flavor food, drinks, and confectionery. The properties of Orange overlap to a large extent with those of the related oil of Neroli (obtained from the orange blossom), being anti-depressant, antispasmodic, and mildly sedative, and is recommended for several of the same purposes as Neroli. Only Orange costs less and smells better.
This is a cheery oil and blends well with spice oils, which makes it an uplifting choice to use during the winter months in warm drinks, or diffused.
Contraindications: As with all citrus oils, should not be applied to the skin before exposure to strong sunlight.
Use all oils with caution and respect. Know any contraindications before using. keep out of reach of children and pets. keep away from eyes. Always dilute properly. Remember . . . less is best.

Mmmmm. A Massage :)
I am NOT the type of person who will pay $50 to have someone I do not know rub my back. To me it is way more relaxing and rejuvenating to spend half that and several hours playing with pretty paper, ribbon and photos of people I love and adore. (In another life I am a scrapbooker.) But when someone offered to bring a table to my home and give me a massage for free- I obliged. Good choice on my part.
AA applied oils on my back and methodically released built up stress. increased my immunity, reduced inflammation in my body, and rejuvenated me. Aah. And it isn't even my birthday!
The massage I experienced was simple and easy to learn. I know because I looked it up and gave my hunny a mini version this evening. Now he is sleeping peacefully and hopefully, longer. I applied oils which will increase his circulation, reduce soreness, alleviate pain, and soothe inflammation.
The massage process is referred to as Aromatouch technique. DoTerra has created a kit with eight essential oils and blends, fractionated coconut oil, a training DVD and an overview booklet in a presentation box which makes it realistic for a person to learn the technique quickly. It felt nice for me to give that little bit of love and attention to my hunny. And I will be able to do it again and again. Just as important, is that in the process, my husband will be using essential oils his body needs.

It's About Time I Blogged About Essential Oils
TEN years ago I formed a new little business I named Scents'ibility. I had just discovered the amazing qualities of essential oils and I wanted to make sure I had access to the good stuff. I remember wondering WHY I hadn't known about essential oils all my life. Up to that point in my life I had had only one experience with essential oils, and even then I hadn't known what I was using. As a little girl I had leg aches and my mom would rub Wintergreen oil on my legs to help them feel better. I'm sure she had purchased it at the local drug store. Well, the stuff worked. One time I put the oil on by myself. Whoa! No one had explained to me how little was needed. I recall that I was uncomfortable for a while till it wore off. Little did I know then that the solution at that time (other than knowing the correct amount to apply) was to apply a carrier oil such as olive oil (which I'm sure we had stocked in the kitchen) which would have taken away the cold burning of the wintergreen oil.
Ten years ago when I first really learned about essential oils my oldest children were getting to the age of leaving my home and venturing off on their own, I was frustrated to find out that I had missed out on utilizing something as amazing and simple as essential oils during their growing up years. I was flabbergasted to find out essential oils had been around for CENTURIES and I had just found out about them. So I made it my business to share the news.
I shared. I started a home business, I worked it for awhile.
Today, I still purchase my oils wholesale in quantities larger than the average person needs, and I still sell to people when they call me up, but I am not printing off letterhead and doing bulk mailings. I sell shoes for a real job. And I love it that way.
A few months ago I was introduced to an essential oil company which distributes oils through a certain type of marketing structure. I actually am impressed with the quality of their essential oils, so I signed up. Remember that I once had my own little essential oil business where I researched suppliers and varieties to be able to supply the best quality for my customers. I even had the opportunity to go to Europe and pick up oils there. I have been using essential oils every day for the past ten years. I make blends and own over a dozen books written about essential oils. One of which is a really boring masterpiece on the chemical blah blah blah of each of them. I am not a chemist so I loaned that one out to my dad who understands that language. I do not claim to be an expert, I am not a licensed Aromatherapist, I am not a doctor of anything, but I like to think I know a good essential oil when I smell one.
The company with the superb oils is Do Terra. My sister has a website with them, so if you are interested clink on her link and tell her Karen sent you.
